Most people are happy with just the digital images from their wedding and aren’t interested in anything else. But, for a number of reasons, that isn’t always the best option. In this blog post, I can hopefully explain why I think that an old fashioned paper album is a great thing to have.
Why Digital Images are not Enough
As part of my pricing, all of the (good!) photos from your wedding are included as digital files – with full rights, so you can print, download and share them as much as you like.
But, by only choosing to have digital images of your wedding day, you’re putting yourself at a huge risk of losing your photos (and the memories from them) in just a few short years.
With only the digital files, you are responsible for making sure that your images are backed up properly. And as technology advances every few years, it also means transferring those images from one type of digital media to another. With every transfer, there’s a (small) risk of file corruption.
While having digital files is a great way to look back at those memories today and for the next few years, an album is definitely the way to go to preserve your favourite images – no gadgets are required and no one has to worry about backing them up!
Technology is Rapidly Evolving
Remember floppy discs? Exactly!
This is one of the reasons I don’t offer CDs or USBs of your images. With more and more computers and laptops doing away with DVD drives and USB ports, these technologies are slowly becoming redundant.
In our digital world, it’s so easy to leave our most precious pictures sitting on smartphones or on the computer, without actually having anything tangible to hold or show people.
Plus, paper has been around for a long, long time and professional grade photo paper is engineered to make sure that photos are preserved properly for many years.
Your Wedding Album will be a Treasured Keepsake
When your friends and family come round, you don’t want to huddle round your laptop to show them your photos.
Imagine picking up a beautiful linen covered album from your coffee table with your photos printed on and letting your parents look through reliving each moment from the day as you turn the pages with excitement.
I only offer professional, high quality albums made in the UK with archival inks and papers that are created to last for generations with proper care.
I want the memories of your wedding day to be seen and enjoyed by your family for years to come.
Don’t Focus on the Price
A professional wedding album is one of the most important purchases to make after your wedding. Even if you never do anything except store it in a closet, you’ll still have images to look at and enjoy years from now with no additional work whatsoever.
Initially it can seem like quite a lot of money but I hope that the points above have made you think about a wedding album, and allow you to focus on the longevity and the memories that can be made through a wedding album.
And whilst we’re on the topic of price, the albums I offer are designed by me and then handmade by a small team who lovingly make your album, emboss your names, and hand make the box it’s presented in. As a general idea, a 30 page album costs £400 – enough for about 60-80 of your favourite photos.
How do I Design your Album?
The albums I offer are 10″ x 10″ modern, lay-flat flush-mount albums printed on durable, fingerprint resistant photographic paper, with a choice of linen cover colours.
And as with everything I do, I try to keep it as simple as possible, and ordering an album is no exception. All you need to do is pick a selection of your favourite images. Then I go through and design the layout based on the images you’ve picked to tell the story of your day.
I then send you the proof for you to check or make any amendments, to ensure it looks just how you imagined it. Then once your happy, you press order, the album is sent off to be printed, and then it’s back with you in 4-6 weeks.
Don’t risk losing your memories. Make a beautiful album one of your priorities.
If you’d like to add an album to your current package or order one then get in touch and we can start the design process!
